The difference between miniature linear guide and ordinary linear guide

Date: 2025.04.23   Views: 148

Both miniature guide rails and ordinary guide rails are commonly used industrial mechanical transmission devices. At present, there are various guide rail products on the market. So what are the differences between micro guide rails and ordinary guide rails?

1. Size: Miniature guide rails are smaller in size, with a minimum slide width of 8MM and a minimum length of about 11MM, suitable for compact miniaturized equipment. Ordinary guide rails are relatively large in size and are suitable for various conventional-sized equipment, and can adapt to different installation space and structural requirements.

2. Carrying capacity: Miniature guide rails mainly bear smaller loads and are suitable for light loads or occasions with low load requirements. Ordinary guide rails have a variety of load types, including medium load, heavy load and extra heavy load, etc., which can bear larger loads and meet the force requirements in different industrial scenarios.

3. Accuracy: Micro guide rails have high accuracy, usually up to sub-micron level or even higher, and are suitable for equipment with extremely high precision requirements. Such as semiconductor manufacturing equipment, high-end scientific research instruments, etc. Ordinary guide rails have multiple levels of accuracy, including ordinary, advanced, precision, etc., which can meet the accuracy requirements of different application scenarios. For example, ordinary machine tools usually use ordinary or advanced precision guide rails.

4. Structure: The structure of micro guide rails is relatively simple, usually consisting of linear rails and guide rail sliders. The structure of ordinary guide rails is relatively complex, consisting of sliders, balls, guide rails and support blocks. This structure enables it to withstand greater loads and forces.

5. Operation mode: Micro guide rails often use high-tech methods such as air flotation to reduce the contact between the rails and sliders, reduce friction, reduce wear, and improve stability and life. Ordinary guide rails usually use lubricating grease or rollers to reduce friction, and achieve smoother movement through reasonable lubrication and rolling element design.

6. Cost: Miniature linear guides are relatively expensive due to their high-precision processing requirements and special materials and manufacturing processes. The cost of ordinary guides varies depending on the type, accuracy and load capacity, but in general, the cost of ordinary guides may be relatively low under the same conditions.

Micro guide rails are suitable for surgical robots and endoscopes in medical equipment, semiconductor manufacturing equipment and electronic assembly equipment in automated equipment, as well as miniaturized and high-precision equipment such as optical instruments and scientific research instruments; while ordinary guide rails have a wide range of applications, covering high-precision equipment such as industrial robots, radars, optical devices, as well as various ordinary machine tools, automated production lines and other equipment with different requirements for precision and load.
